I would like to share my history with prostatitis and want know if anyone wanted to offer any feedback or advice. I am 30 and have been having issues since March. First, I became extremely sick with a bad fever, chills, body sensations. After a few days I decided to go to the hospital and they ran a number of blood tests and found nothing wrong. I eventually felt better but not 100% so following my friends advice. So i decided to get tested for HIV and STIs. Turned out that i had gonorrhea, so i received treatment for it. The following day I had the worst pain in my penis, burning during urination, and terrible pain while ejaculation. This went away after about a week and then my prostate started to hurt. At the time I had no idea what was hurting because I had never had issues with my prostate. I decided to go back to my doctor and he checked out my prostate. He diagnosed me with acute prostatitis and told me to see a urologist.
So urologist said my prostate was very inflamed and he drained it. He prescribed me Cipro for 21 days. By this time i had all the classic symptoms: pain in ass, pain in perineum. The cipro pills and prostate massages helped tremendously and I felt much better. However, i still had pain and my urologist prescribed me Doxycicline for 14 days, which didnt help at all. By this time it was was early June. The urologist was helpful at first but once i tried coming back after taking the Cipro he began to question my issue and basically told me , that i have an chronic prostatitis ,there was not much more he could do to help me. So I decided to help myself, I began taking different supplements, trying different diets, vitamins, etc. From August i did this with improvement but still problems.
Within the last few weeks, i decided to stop all exercising and weight lifting, to not ejaculate for a month or longer to see if that helps, and I also recently started broccoli juice (which I was very skeptical about at first). Since doing this at the end of August, I have begun feeling better than I’ve felt in months. It seems to be getting better every week if that’s even possible. I have no idea if this is just a short-term fix or will have lasting effects. I do fear once i work out again or ejaculate again, the relief I am feeling will go away.
Overall my main symptoms are an aching pain in the prostate, mild pain in the pelvic area and butt, and pain following ejaculation. I haven’t had any issues with peeing too much. Obviously I am happy that I am getting better but from reading this forum I see just how dangerous this can be if left untreated for years. In March it will have been one year of pain, I was just wondering if anyone had any advice as to what I should do. Should I keep waiting and hope it continues to get better on its own? Should I find another doctor?
My problems are probably not as severe as many of the men on here but I just want to make sure they don’t get any worse.
Sorry for such a long post, I hope it makes sense. Thank you for reading this and thank you for this forum. Prostatitis is a difficult problem to go through, which a lot of people doesn't understand.
I really dont know what should i do. Please help me !

Can't give any advice as i am not cured myself.
Anyway i think you should do immediately a high resolution transrectal ultrasound to see how the prostate is (inflammed, calcification, still with infection...etc).
if i understand well your post, you seem to have received only 5 weeks in total of Antibiotics.
Did your urologist verify that the gonorrhea were gone after this treatment ?

If you haven't already, you MUST get "A Headache in the Pelvis" and join the site forum of chronicprostatis.com Doing these things has helped me tremendously. It sounds to me based on the situation you describe (although I am not a doctor) that your weight lifting and I assume, stress in your life as well, aggravated the state of your pelvic floor muscles...this set the stage if you will for the onset of the symptoms...however...what TRIGGERED the prostatitis/CPPS symptoms you have now was perhaps a minor infection of some kind - gonnorea or perhaps acute prostatitis however what you're left with, I believe, is a little different from what triggered things off.

Certainly, this was the case for me. I just turned 29 and contracted a minor urininary infection. It all cleared up in the space of a few days but there was a feeling that somthing wasn't right down there. Cue, plenty of unhelpful doctors visits and a cystoscopy, all to reveal that there was nothing wrong with me.

The key to getting better, I believe is realising that this a muscular problem. THis is hard to believe because we have these symptoms it seems impossible that they would create such pain, frequency, blood in urine, sexual dysfunction etc.

Don't bother with finding a doc; you will only get more and more confused - the medical establishment doesn't understand this condition. You MUST take the time to educate yourself. Get the book I mentioned above and then try to find a physical therapist who can put you on the road to recovery.

Good luck.

I'm sorry if I made any mistakes in my last post. The opinion I gave is only my own opinion and I don't pretend to have any medical knowledge. It is possible that I may be wrong, I'm only outlining what has helped me. They may not be things that help you. Indeed, one of the frustrating things about this condition is that there are so many theories about why this occurs and so many theories about what helps people; some people say exercise helps them, some people say it exacerbates their symptoms, some people say regular ejaculation helps, others say it makes their symptoms much worse. I think the best thing is to stay as open minded as possible and to experiment with what works for you.

I am not affiliated with either the book I mentioned or the website; I only mention them because they have helped me.
